Program Signature Images

At ARPA-H, I was responsible for coming up with a design system for graphic identifiers representing the agency’s different programs. We didn’t want regular “logos,” to so I came up with the “signature image,” an identifying graphic that exists somewhere between a logo and a full scientific illustration.
Each signature image is designed to encapsulate the heart of the program in a way that would remain relevant regardless of the program’s evolution. It also is designed to fit neatly within ARPA-H’s iconic hexagon, work well on both dark and light backgrounds, and scale well across many materials, from small handouts to large banners. The images were also designed to have a splash of dimensionality, but not too much.
Motion Design/animation
Finally, I created full explainer videos, short social animations, and brief promos for the agency.
Program Posters
In addition to a signature image, each program also needed a poster that felt appropriately epic and inspirational, so I developed a system that essentially “upgraded” the program’s signature image, using a common layout along with a toolkit of glows, shapes, and other elements to allow for quick iteration.
Other Design
In addition to program signature images and posters, I also regularly created print materials ranging from banners, to step-and-repeats, to handouts, to graphics for full exhibit booths.
One last thing:
I got to be a part of launching a nationwide health innovation network!
